2019: The start of 50 before 50

It’s a new year, which means it’s time for a new New Year’s Day (or eve) trip!

After a strong start to a new tradition in 2015 (Costa Rica) and 2016 (Singapore/Bali), 2017 snuck up on me before I could plan. But, we’re back, along with a new personal/writing/travel goal. But more on that in a second.

It’s about 5:30pm on New Year’s Eve, and I’m currently sitting in ABAI waiting to board a flight to LAX where I will board two more flights and end up in BANGKOK. I have zero regret about any “missed” New Year’s eve’s plans. Typically, these trips start on New Year’s day, but the price was right, so I packed.

If you follow me even a little, you know that I like to travel as much as my jobs and wallet let me. As much as I seem to be a homebody at home in Austin, which I kinda am (trying to get better at that), I am just as eager to go visit new places, learn about new cultures, and meet new people.

The past few months have conjured up a goal that will help me continue exploring: Vising 50 new cities by the time I turn 50 in a scant 6 years and 2 months.

It feels ambitious, but doable. The cities will be domestic and international, because, if you don’t really know much about different parts of your own country, how can we start to bridge the enormous riffs between all humans that is in dire need of attention?

Right now, my goals are simple: travel, meet people, learn about them (and myself)

And the adventure starts now: January 2019: THAILAND: Bangkok and Chiang Mai
